When a person has a spinal cord injury their life changes from one moment to the next. Everyday things that they took for granted are new and frightening territory. SCI-PEI has a group of volunteers (who use a wheelchair or are connected to someone who uses a wheelchair) from all walks of life who have been through the experience and who know what a person coming to terms with their disability is going through.

The support team meets with the spinal cord-injured individual and their family members to guide and support them, together and individually, through the rehabilitation process. They serve as mentors, through their positive attitudes and personal accomplishments, to illustrate that although there are challenges, you can get your life back.
