Spinal Cord Injury PEI – Art Event for International Day of Persons with Disabilities

1. What is this art event about?
This event is hosted by Spinal Cord Injury PEI in celebration of the International Day of Persons with
Disabilities (IDPD), a UN day celebrated every year on December 3. The event encourages students in
grades 6-9 to create original artwork that promotes and advocates for people living with disabilities.

2. Who can participate?
Students in grades 6-9 across PEI are invited to participate.

3. What is the goal of the art project?
The goal is to foster advocacy, disability awareness, and empathy for individuals living with disabilities
through creative expression among young people.

4. What are the submission requirements?
Students are asked to submit an original artwork that promotes disability awareness. The artwork can
be created in any medium (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.) and should align with the theme of
disability awareness and advocacy.

5. When is the submission deadline?
All artwork submissions must be received by the end of November to be considered for the competition.

6. When will the winners be announced?
The winners will be selected and announced during the first week of December.

7. What are the prizes?
The winning artworks will be recognized during the International Day of Persons with Disabilities event
on December 3. Winners' work will be featured on SCI-PEI's platforms, with additional prizes awarded.

8. How can we submit the artwork?
Artwork submissions can be delivered to Spinal Cord Injury PEI's office. More details on submission and
delivery methods will be provided after registration.

9. How do we register for the event?
SCI-PEI will send out an email invitation to schools and groups. Once received, you can reply to that
email to register your students and receive additional instructions.
